KARACHI: Adviser to CM Sindh on Information, Law and Anti-corruption Barrister Murtaza Wahab has said NICVD was a state of art health care facility in public sector which is providing free of cost treatment to cardio patients across Pakistan.

This he said while addressing the ceremony on World Heart Day at NICVD on Friday.

Acknowledging the services of the institute, Barrister Murtaza Wahab remarked that with the establishment of eight satellite centres in different districts of Sindh in addition to chest pain unit in Karachi, the health care delivery had improved in the province.

He said NICVD was not only accommodating poor and needy cardio patients of Sindh province, but providing free of cost treatment to ailing humanity across the country.

Provincial Advisor informed that video conferencing and e-medical introduced at eight satellite centres for seeking expert opinion for accurate diagnosis of diseases and appropriate prescription to ailing in for flung areas of the province. He said Sindh government had increased the budget allocation for NICVD up to Rs 8.5 billion annually keeping in view of its services to masses, in 2013-14 it was 700 millions.

Advisor to CM Sindh Murtaza Wahab pledged to continue support Cardio institute so that people of Sindh and Pakistan could continue to get cardio treatment facilities at their door step. On the occasion Director NICVD Dr Nadeem Qamar gave detailed briefing on the affairs and working of institute.

Later, talking to newsmen, Advisor said Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) completely failed to run its hospitals in city despite the fact that Sindh government was disbursing grants and its share to KMC in time. He said that burden could be reduced on Sindh government hospitals, if KMC started to manage its healthcare facilities in proper way.—PR
