RECORDER REPORT

LAHORE: All Pakistan Cement Dealers Association has announced to suspend sale-purchase of cement from Tuesday as a mark of protest against unjustifiable taxes and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

Association's president Asif Saeed announced this while talking to journalists after a meeting of its associations' representatives gathered at the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) Zonal Office, Lahore here on Tuesday.

Asif Saeed said that dealers would bring shutters of their business down from today and there will be no sale or purchase of the cement bags. He said that at present consumption of cement in Lahore alone is around 100,000 tonnes.

He said they knew that their step would cause loss of millions of rupees to the mills as well as the government in shape of lower taxes contribution to the kitty.

He accused the government and the FBR of levying numerous unjustifiable taxes on cement sector. He claimed that they would be on strike till their demands are not met.
