RECORDER REPORT

KARACHI: Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) Chairman Syed Mustafa Kamal on Wednesday rejected the alarming rise in prices of electricity and petroleum products.

Such arbitrary decisions have not only exposed the government’s bad economic policies but also have deprived people of their right to livelihood, he said.

In a statement, Kamal said that present incompetent government has put all the burden of its debts on the poor people who pay tax even on buying a box of matches.

PSP has already made it clear that it would approach the court of law against the surge in power tariff by K-Electric. He expressed these views while addressing a meeting of the PSP Labour Wing.

He added that the people are now fed up with the U-turns of the government and said that inflation, unemployment and corruption have increased dramatically.

The business community is in a deep state of crisis, investors in the country are moving abroad due to poor economic conditions while the government is hell bent upon reiterating ‘all is well’, he said.

He urged the rulers to correct their directions and realise the gravity of public anger. If the situation remains the same, reaction of the people can be devastating, he said.
