LAHORE: The All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) has requested the Chief Executive Officer Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) to take up the matter with the Ministry of Energy, Power Division for issuance of current electricity bills to the export oriented sector including textile sector at 7.5 cents/Kwh as per decision taken in the meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee on March 11, 2020.

In a letter written to the CEO LESCO, the APTMA has demanded that the electricity bills of the current month may be revised before March 24, 2020 which is the last date of payment. The bills should be issued as per decision of the ECC dated 11.03.20.

“The already paid amount of QTA, ADMC, FPA and different surcharges may be credited and adjusted against the liability of the current bills,” the letter said.

The APTMA is of the view that demanding any amount in addition to the all inclusive tariff of 7.5c/Kwh is unjustified. Billing of the amount over and above 7.5c/Kwh will further aggravate the financial position of textile industry which is already faced with tremendous financial constraints due to global recession in the aftermath of COVID-19.
