ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on Wednesday agreed to devise a strategy for promoting startups in the IT industry through business incubation centres and innovation hubs.

Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Syed Aminul Haque chaired a meeting regarding collaboration between Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication and the UNDP in various areas of activity on Wednesday. Earlier, Amin took the charge of the Ministry of IT on Wednesday. Amin reached Ministry of IT in Kohsar Block at Pak Secretariat and took the charge of his post.

The ministry and the UNDP vowed to jointly work for equipping youths with digital skills, and connecting them to national and international markets. UNDP Representative in Pakistan, Ignacio Artaza, and Federal Secretary Ministry of IT and Telecommunication Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui were also present at the meeting.

Matters related to information technology and digitalisation were discussed during the meeting. Artaza briefed the federal minister about the working and functions of the UNDP. Amin said UNDP was the trusted partner and Ministry of IT and UNDP would continue to cooperate with each other in various areas of activity. The federal minister for IT witnessed exchange of letters between Artaza and Shoaib Siddiqui.
