RECORDER REPORT

LAHORE: Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is learnt to have written a letter to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Director General seeking time to appear before the commission holding probing about sugar and wheat scam.

Sources in the PML-N claimed that Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will appear before the commission along with former federal minister Khurram Dastgir Khan. Both will present their viewpoint as how Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief Minister Usman Buzdar are involved in this mega scam, the sources added.

It may be noted that the PML-N central executive committee in its meeting had decided to join the investigation of the commission probing sugar and wheat scam.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Rana Sanaullah said on Friday that Prime Minister Imran Khan should be held accountable over foreign funding case. The nation’s Rs 30 billion were wasted over the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project, he said in a statement.

Rana Sanaullah further said that the embezzled amount in the billion tree tsunami project and flour and sugar scandals should also be recovered. He said the real culprits guilty of sugar and wheat theft should be exposed and taken to task.
