KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 87,960 tonnes of cargo comprising 46,456 tonnes of import cargo and 41,504 tonnes of export cargo including 3,070 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.

The total import cargos of 46,456 tonnes comprised of 19,409 tonnes of containerised cargo; 16,654 tonnes of bulk cargo; and 10,393 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 41,504 tonnes comprised of 8,244 tonnes of containerised cargo; 360 tonnes of general cargo; 29,900 tonnes of bulk cargo and 3,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 3,070 containers comprising of 1,564 containers of import and 1,506 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 378 of 20’s and 523 of 40’s loaded while nil of 20’s and 70 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 249 of 20’s and 92 of 40’s loaded containers while 221 of 20’s and 426 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There was one ship carrying general cargo sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were four vessels carrying containers, oil tanker, fertilizer and clinkers respectively currently t the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 86,951 tonnes comprising of 44,828 tonnes of import cargo and 42,123 tonnes of export cargo including 2,532 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The total import cargo of 44,828 tonnes includes 6,664 tonnes of coal; 5,000 tonnes of gasoline; 3,390 tonnes of palm oil; 11,642 tonnes of soyabean; 12,147 tonnes of chemical and 5,985 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 42,123 tonnes includes 42,123 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 2,532 containers comprising of 315 containers import and 2,217 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

There were three ships namely Safmarine Ngami, Baltic Bridge and UACC Ibn Sina carrying containrers and gasoline respectively sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while another ships namely Bochem Antwerp carrying chemical respectively is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of seven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean, chemical, gasoline and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as eleven vessels viz. Express Athens, MP The Law, MSC Guilia, Nord Bering, Dona Bibi, Mytro, Gas Athena, Milaha Qatar, Al-Adailiah, Ploutos and Torm Asfrid carrying containers, soyabean, coal, LPG,LNG, gas oil, gasoline and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were seven ships viz. MP The Law, MSC Guilia, Nord Bering, Gas Athena, Al-Adailiah and Navig8 Tanzanite carrying containers, coal, LPG, LNG, gasoil and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday.

There was one ship namely Navig8 Tanzanite carrying palm oil due to arrive on Monday while three more ships namely Symil, Maersk Detroit and Gottfried Schulte carrying containers are due to arrive on Tuesday.
