KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 108,148 tonnes of cargo comprising 63,247 tonnes of import cargo and 44,901 tonnes of export cargo including 4,416 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.

The total import cargos of 63,247 tonnes comprised of 22,264 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,504 tonnes of general cargo; 9,629 tonnes of bulk cargo; and 27,850 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 44,901 tonnes comprised of 19,972 tonnes of containerised cargo and 24,929 tonnes of bulk cargo.

As many as 4,416 containers comprising of 1,881 containers of import and 2,535 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 563 of 20’s and 525 of 40’s loaded while nil of 20’s and 134 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 536 of 20’s and 223 of 40’s loaded containers while 1,171 of 20’s and 191 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were six ships namely Libra, Bellatrixi, MOL Generosity, Hyundai Oakland, Alpine Persefone and Venture Joy carrying containers, clinkers and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were three vessels carrying containers and oil tanker respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 146,641 tonnes comprising of 139,193 tonnes of import cargo and 7,448 tonnes of export cargo including 1,301 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The total import cargo of 139,193 tonnes includes 71,647 tonnes of coal; 25,475 tonnes of gas oil; 12,000 tonnes of palm oil; 12,800 tonnes of soyabean and 17,271 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 7,448 tonnes includes 7,448 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 1,301 containers comprising of 909 containers import and 392 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

There was one ships namely Galini carrying coal sail out to sea on Monday afternoon.

A total number of eight ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean, LPG, gas oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as fifteen vessels viz. Le Havre, Le Li, Da Kang, Chayanee Naree, Strange Attractor, Green Witch Eagle, Energy Glory, Tomson Gas, Al Marrouna, Amber, Al-Soor-II, Gulf Horizon, MT Karachi, Mage-I and UACC March carrying containers, general cargo, steel coil, coal, soyabean, LNG, LPG, gasoline, gas oil, furnace oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were three ships viz. Le Havre, Strange Attractor and Al Marrouna carrying containers, coal and LNG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively on Monday.

There are two ships namely MSC Meidi and Maersk Denver carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
