KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 139,255 tonnes of cargo comprising 99,913 tonnes of import cargo and 39,342 tonnes of export cargo including 4,945 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargos of 99,913 tonnes comprised of 28,591 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,117 tonnes of bulk cargo; 5,152 tonnes of wheat and 64,053 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 39,342 tonnes comprised of 17,926 tonnes of containerised cargo and 21,416 tonnes of clinkers.

As many as 4,945 containers comprising of 1,731 containers import and 3,214 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 581 of 20’s and 567 of 40’s loaded while nil of 20’s and 08 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 444 of 20’s and 497 of 40’s loaded containers while 878 of 20’s and 449 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were five ships namely Rome Express, Hyundai Privilege, MSC Tavvshi, RDO Fortune and Cape Fortius carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were six vessels viz. Carl Schulte, MSC Chiara, Moen Island, OOCL Guangzhou, Al Rayan and Da Tong Yun carrying containers, clinker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There are three ships namely MSC Chiara, Eships Progress and Dolce Vita-1 carrying containers, clinker and general cargo respectively to sail on Thursday while another ship namely Tai Splendor carrying clinker is expected to sail on Friday.

There are six vessels viz. Nordspring, MT Quetta, Fos Spirit, Al Mahboobah, Grace and Athina-III carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical, clinker and wheat respectively due to arrive on Thursday while three vessels viz. Botany Bay, Navig8 Sol and KSL Deyang carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively are expected due to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 221,260 tonnes comprising 173,323 tonnes of import cargo and 47,937 tonnes of export cargo including 3,925 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 173,323 tonnes tonnes includes 77,644 tonnes of coal; 17,351 tonnes of LNG; 23,644 tonnes of steel coil; 17, 728 tonnes of mogas; 2,918 tonnes of LPG; 7,400 tonnes of wheat and 26,638 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 47,937 tonnes includes 47,937 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,925 containers comprising of 1,402 containers import and 2,523 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

There were two ships namely Maersk Denver and Chemroad Ecco Park carrying containers and chemical respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while four ships namely MSC Esthi, Manta Asli, Singapore Eagle and Global Rose carrying containers, coal and steel coil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eleven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, coal, wheat, LPG, LNG, mogas and palm kernel respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as fourteen vessels viz. Maersk Jalan, Alidi Wave, Oriole, SBI Achillos, Jolius Oldendroff, African Starling, Gas Athena, Gas Zeus, Cool Explorer, Masaimeer, Gulf Coast, Al-Salam-II and Gulf Pearl and Mid Falcon carrying containers, coal, cement, LPG, LNG, gasoline, gas oil, condensate and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were six ships viz. Alidi Wave, Aristomanis, Oriole, African Starling, Mesaimeer and Mid Falcon carrying containers, coal, cement, LNG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday.

There were two ships namely George Washington and Aristomanis carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday while another ship namely Maersk Jalan carrying containers is due to arrive on Friday.
