RECORDER REPORT
ISLAMABAD: K-Electric has said it is neither delaying nor defaulting on payments for RLNG supplied by Pakistan LNG Limited (PLL), and has sought implementation of the agreed pricing mechanism and reconciliation of payments.
Reacting to a story appeared in Business Recorder on September 4, 2026, based on a letter written by PLL to K-Electric’s Chief Executive Officer, a K-Electric spokesperson issued the following clarification.
“K-Electric clarifies that there has been no delay or default on its part regarding payments for RLNG supplied by Pakistan LNG Limited (PLL). The company has reiterated that the National Coordination and Management Council (NCMC), in its July 1, 2026 meeting attended by relevant stakeholders, including K-Electric, agreed to the implementation of a unified/weighted-average RLNG pool pricing mechanism under the prevailing force majeure conditions.”
K-Electric said it had requested that implementation of the agreed mechanism be expedited so that pricing and payments could be reconciled with effect from May 2026.
“K-Electric has been making payments based on the actual RLNG mix received for spot and normal cargoes.
Based on payments made to date and the expected pricing under the unified pool mechanism, K-Electric estimates that it has already paid approximately Rs4.2 billion in excess, for which a corresponding credit note is expected from PLL upon implementation of the mechanism,” the spokesperson said.
The company reiterated its commitment to timely implementation of the agreed pricing mechanism and reconciliation of payments, and requested all stakeholders to expedite the process.
However, PLL, in its letter, had claimed that the total outstanding principal against RLNG supplies made during May to July 2026 stood at Rs6.7526 billion as of August 27, 2026.
