KARACHI: An inquiry against Mohammad Asif Saeed, the owner and developer of a construction project Karachi, and others was initiated in 2011 following receipt of a complaint.

Despite a lapse of 7 to 8 years it was alleged the builder even after receiving the entire cost of the flats, had not completed the construction of the shops/flats. Mohammad Asif Saeed did not complete the project after the death of his father and the complainant lodged a case with NAB.

Eightysix allotees of flats and shops approached NAB, out of which 58 allottees produced records and requested NAB that they wanted physical possession of their flats/shops form the builder. A ground check was conducted by the NAB team and it was observed that connections of essential utilities such as gas and electricity were not provided. The builder was advised to complete the development work before submitting for voluntary return (VR). It was found that the project was constructed on 5 different plots which were distributed in the name of Asif Saeed’s family due to which it was not legally possible to continue the project.

The Bureau made untiring efforts to make it possible to legally amalgamate all the plots in the accused’s name. NAB helped and facilitated the builder in completing the utility services in the project. The renovation, sewerage, and gas work have been completed and restoration of electricity is underway. A lift has also been installed. Today (3rd March 2014), worthy DG NAB Sindh Wajid Ali Khan distributed the sub-lease in favour of 48 allottees.—PR
