KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday sought comments from the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) and other provincial authorities on an application of real estate concern seeking resumption of construction work on a flyover and two underpasses in Clifton area.

The counsel for Bahria Town filed an application requesting the court to allow it to resume construction work on the traffic improvement project, as the Sepa has given an EIA report on the project while approving it.

He submitted that following the court directives, the KMC approached the Sepa to obtain a mandatory environmental impact assessment (EIA) report on the project. He added that since the Sepa had accorded its approval to the project on August 05, the builder be allowed to start work on the project.

He told the court that a SHC division bench had also dismissed the DHA petition through which it challenged the Sepa’s EIA report. Hence, he pleaded to the court to allow the Bahria Town to resume work on the project.

After preliminary hearing, the SHC single bench headed by Justice Muneeb Akhtar issued notice to relevant authorities to file comments on the application by Oct 22.—PPI
