5,791 candidates appear in UoP’s aptitude test

PESHAWAR: Around 5,791 candidates/students were appeared in the University of Peshawar Aptitude test for admission into the Masters Degree programme held at the main cricket ground of UoP.

The candidates have been appeared for admission against the (approx) 2500 allocated seats in the 42 different disciplines of varsity where MA, MSc programme is being offered. The total candidates included 1905 female and 3886 male students with a male female ratio of 68: 32. The highlight of test was appearance of 112 physically different candidates in the test including three visually impaired students.

Vice Chancellor UoP Prof. Dr Muhammad Rasul Jan himself monitored the test. He was accompanied by Registrar Dr. Syed Fazl-i-Hadi, Director Admissions Prof. Dr. Hezbollah Khan and other officers of the University. Besides around 200 invigilating staff were also deployed and assigned the task of smooth conduction of the test.

Four separate categories of test ranging from Biological Sciences (UAT-BIOS), Physical and Numerical Sciences (UAT-PNS), Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (UAT-AHSS) and Commerce and Inter science (UAT-CIS) were designed for the candidates seeking admission in various disciplines. The result of the test would be announced on Tuesday October 21, 2014 and would be displayed on the University of Peshawar website: www.upesh.edu.pk wherefrom students can check their results.

Addressing media persons on the occasion the Vice Chancellor said that being the mother Institution, University of Peshawar has all the requisite resource to conduct test for institutions throughout the province at least as it has been facilitating the preparation and conduction of test for various testing bodies.

He added that University of Peshawar Aptitude test conduction facility would be extended to other varsities of the province upon their request.

It is pertinent to mention that Departmental test for entry into linguistics programmes i.e. Masters in English and Urdu were conducted earlier in which around fifteen hundred candidates appeared.
