LAHORE: The National Transmission and Despatch Company Limited has started a five-week ‘internship training programme’ for 230

students of 33 the Public and Private Universities of the country.

To welcome internees, an orientation ceremony took place at the Wapda House, Lahore, on Monday.

In his opening speech, company Managing Director Engineer Muhammad Arshad Chaudhry said, “This training programme will play a vital role to enrich the academic career and provide them off-hand opportunities, where knowledge from theoretical work is applied in real terms.”

He further said students would get ample opportunities of learning during the study of mega projects of national importance, which were being carried out by NTDCL [National Transmission and Despatch Company Limited], which had international credibility and maintains its network to evacuate hydel power from North and thermal at South to the load centres of the country.

Giving an introductory presentation, Human Resource Director General Muhammad Gulzar Sheikh said because of the company’s credibility of the internship programme of power engineering, finance and HR disciplines the internship training programme had been enhanced to five weeks on the request of various universities.

He claimed, “This tenure of internship will fetch advantages of gaining exposure of all facets involved in management and administration as well as desptach and transmission system prevailing throughout the country. The experienced manpower of versatile formations of NTDCL like Design, System Protection, Power Planning, Grid System Construction and Grid System Operations will deliver their professional prowess towards the

young internees, which

will ultimately help in contributing the national development.”

The company’s general managers and chief engineers then gave detailed presentations about their respective departments. GM GSC, GM GSO, GM Tech, Chief Engineer System Protection, Telecom, Design and other official were also present on the occasion.
