KARACHI: Girls clinched all top three positions in SSC-II examinations (Science, General and Special Students groups).

The results were announced by the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) on Thursday.

Anosha Asghar secured first position with 789 marks, Muneeba Talib stood second with 787 marks and Munaza Azam d/o Muhammad Yasin obtained third position with 786 marks.

Aqsa Zubair topped in general group, securing 760 marks, while Huraim Siddiqi and Hafiza Kainat Malik obtained second and third positions respectively. Usra Syed bagged first position in special students category, Tuba Shahid secured 2nd position and Fatima Abbas gained 3rd position.

Chairman, BSEK, Anwar Ahmed Zai, said that the board management was trying to introduce more transparency in copy assessment and examination process. He said that during the SSC exams, teachers and candidates faced a lot of problems due to electricity loadshedding.

Total 14,6401 candidates were registered in SSC part-II (Science group) and out of them 14,4942 appeared in the exams. The pass percentage remained 61.07 percent.

Similarly, some 26,453 candidates were registered in SSC part-II (general group), out of them 25,774 appeared in the exams. The pass percentage remained 57.19 percent.

Speaking to media persons, the position holders were of the opinion that government should enhance the quality of education.

They demanded unified education system in the country so that underprivileged class of the society got equal chance of quality education.

The position holders complained that the government schools faced many problems like paucity of teachers and better environment. They also asked the government to create job opportunities for special students.
