KARACHI: Chief Executive Officer K-Electric Tayyab Tareen has assured industrialists that K-E is giving top priority to industrial sector in terms of supply of electricity and will do so in the future too.

He explained that load shedding was carried out only in the month of Ramazan due to unusual high temperature, which led to record high electricity demand.

He said this during a meeting with Zubair Motiwala, former president SITE Association of Industry & other members of KCCI, he had also presented Future Investment Plan to enhance generation and build new infrastructure and network and also to improve the existing system. He said that the new investment was addition to already invested $ 1.2 billion.

He also said the company was earning profit due massive reduction in Transmission and Distribution losses, which now stood at 23 percent as compared to 40 percent few years ago.

He mentioned K-Electric had changed copper wires with Aluminium.

He said this had been undertaken where it was technically viable and still 85 percent supplies were made to through copper wires.

Zubair Motiwala suggested that these kind of planned loadshedding must be consulted with stakeholders before implementation.

He agreed that the system had improved but there was still much room for improvement It was pointed out to CEO that during the month of Ramazan loadshedding was extended to the industrial areas due which industries suffered a lot.
