KARACHI: The police on Thursday registered a case regarding recovery of huge arms and ammunition from a house located in Azizabad No 8 against unknown persons.

The first investigation report (FIR) has been lodged on complaint of SHO Azizabad under Explosive and Anti Terrorism Act (ATC).

In a predawn raid on Tuesday, the police recovered a huge cache of firearms, include a huge number of anti-aircraft guns, anti-aircraft rocket launchers, sub-machine guns; LMGs, SMGs, G3 rifles, M-16 rifles and sniper rifles, large number of bullet-proof vests, helmets and countless live bullets worth millions of rupees. The weapons were hidden in an underground water tank of a house behind Lal Qila Ground in the Muttahida Qaumi Movement( MQM) stronghold Azizabad Area.

Police said investigations were underway, however; no arrests have so far been made in this connection. The police said the water tank-from where the ammunition recovered, was designed, especially for this very purpose.

Ownership of the house is yet to be ascertained as two utility bills found from the house by law enforcers during the course of action, are bearing different names of the house owner. According to sources, a K-Electric bill bearing name of Shiekh Rehmat Ullah whereas Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KW&SB) bill shows name of Naeem Ullah.
