ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has received as many as 405,682 income tax returns (Tax Year 2016) till November 11 as compared to 335,616 returns (Tax Year 2015) submitted during the same period of the last fiscal year, showing an increase of 70,066 returns.

According to the latest data of income tax returns filed by different categories of taxpayers, a total number of 405,682 income tax returns filed included returns filed by categories of individuals, Association of Persons and companies for Tax Year 2016, besides electronically filed returns with the FBR. The taxpayers who filed returns manually stood at 11,173 as compared to 8,328 returns filed last year.

Sources said that the number of return filing is increasing day by day and categories of individuals, Association of Persons and manual filers have shown increase when compared to same period of the last fiscal. It is expected that the number of return filers would substantially increase in coming days.

Breakup of provisional data revealed that the FBR has received 69,598 more tax returns.

The category of Association of Persons (AoPs) have so far filed 17,402 income tax returns for Tax Year 2016 as compared to 16,787 returns files by AoPs during tax year 2015, showing an increase of 615 returns. Within the category of companies, till now a total of 1,020 companies have filed returns as compared to 1,167 returns submitted during the same period of the last fiscal.

It is worth mentioning that the last date for filing of income tax returns is November 15, 2016.
