LAHORE: The Department for International Development (DFID), UK will provide Rs 8.5 billion as programme grant to Punjab government during the current financial year for its education, health and skill development sectors.

According to provincial government’s budget estimates for the year 2017-18, the DIFD will provide Rs 5.738 billion for education project one, Rs 1.868 billion for health and nutrition project and Rs 894 for skill development project.

It is worth mentioning that DFID is working in Pakistan to reduce poverty and help build a prosperous and stable country as more than 60 million people in Pakistan live in extreme poverty, 20 million children are out of school, 1 in 11 children die before their fifth birthday , 12,000 women die in childbirth, poverty is denying opportunities to millions of people and undermining Pakistan’s long-term stability and prosperity.
