LAHORE: The specialized healthcare and medical education department has planned to set up six advanced endoscope suites and state of the art hepatitis clinics in Southern Punjab in addition to autonomous medical institutions of Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot and Rawalpindi.

Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Secretary Najam Ahmed Shah revealed this in a meeting held here on Friday.

The institutions which are selected for this purpose included district headquarters, teaching hospitals Sahiwal, Nishtar Hospital, Nishtar Medical University Multan, Bahawal Victoria Hospital, Quaid-i-Azam Medical College Bahawalpur, DHQ Hospital, Sargodha Medical College, DHQ Teaching Hospital, Dera Ghazi Khan Medical College, DG Khan and DHQ Teaching Hospital Shaikh Zayed Medical College Rahim Yar Khan.

He said this revolutionary step will not only help prompt diagnosis of hepatitis and gastroenterology related diseases but also provide effective treatment all over Punjab at par with international guidelines.

Principal Ameer-ud-Din Medical College and Lahore General Hospital Prof Ghayas-un-Nabi Tayyab is looking after the project.
