LAHORE: The sale of cars, tractors, jeeps, trucks, motorcycles marked a significant increase in the first quarter of the current financial year as compared to last year’s corresponding period despite issues of balance of payments, wide gap between imports and exports and political uncertainty in the country.

According to production & sale data of vehicles released by the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association from July to September 2017 the sale of cars Honda, Toyota Corolla, and Suzuki increased from 41,408 to 50,640 in three months. Toyota Corolla manufacturers sold 12,765 cars, Honda (Civic and City) 10,534 cars, Suzuki Mehran 10,510 cars, Suzuki WagonR 5,789 wagons , Suzuki Bolan 4,811, Suzuki Cultus 5,181 cars and Suzuki Swift 1,044 cars.

Farm tractor manufacturers almost doubled their production during this period and sold 15,710 tractors against last’s year’s July -September sale of 7,858 units. Massy Ferguson sold 10,000 tractors and FIAT 5672 units.

Production and sale of motorcycles and three wheeler rose by 10,00,000 units. The popular brand Honda Motorcycle manufacturers sold 2,68,309 against the total sale of 4,68,507 motorcycles and three wheelers.

United Auto sold 98,512 motorcycles and Road Prince sold 63,540 motorcycles.
