LAHORE: Minister for Primary & Secondary Healthcare Khawaja Imran Nazir has said that neither the workers are being fired nor the hospitals are being privatized.

He expressed these views while addressing the monthly meeting of Deputy District Officers (DDOs) Health. Secretary Primary & Secondary Health Ali Jan Khan, Special Secretary Dr. Faisal Zahoor, Dr Farooq Manzoor, Dr Mukhtar Hussain Shah, CEO PHFMC Muhammad Ali Amir, Project Directors and officials of Primary & Secondary Health Department were also present on this occasion.

Nazir maintained that Punjab Health Facilities Management Company (PHFMC) is a government organization headed by a government officer. He further added that it is first time in Punjab’s history that Lady Health Workers given the status of government employee and now the Primary & Secondary Department is working on the service structure of LHWs. He said that on the direction of Chief Minister Punjab a committee has been constituted to regularize the dengue workers who are serving on contractual basis for the last few years.

He added that the biggest benefit of bifurcation of Health Department is that first time in Punjab; special attention is being paid on preventive programme on priority basis the diseases are being prevented on priority basis. He announced that an integrated system have been developed to screen the Punjab police force. In first phase, 70 thousand police men will be screened.

While addressing the DDOs secretary Primary and secondary health Ali Jan Khan said that polio campaign is being started in next week throughout Punjab and all the employees and officials play an active role during this campaign. He evaluated the progress of DDOs during meeting.
