LAHORE: The Provincial Minister for Women Development Hameeda Waheed-ud-Din chaired a high-level meeting regarding implementation of women empowerment packages at the chief minister secretariat here on Monday.

The provincial Secretary for Women Development Department (WDD) Bushra Aman, Additional Secretary Nadir Khalique, Deputy Secretary Amna Rafique, and representatives of concerned departments also attended the meeting.

Various initiatives of women empowerment packages came under discussion including women protection laws, institutional mechanism for prevention of violence against women, women crisis and rehabilitation help desks, domestic workers policy, the right of equal remuneration/wages, establishment of cottage villages for women in labour colonies, private sector to be encouraged to adopt employment policies, inclusion of women in the executive body as office bearers in trade unions, technical training of workers’ wives, free of cost vocational training to women belonging to minority communities, skill development of female students with the stipend of Rs 1000 per month, establishment of day-care centres, working women hostels, training of women domestic workers, IT training by WDD through PITB, Fatima Jinnah Awards and existing mobile units to be provided with all basic facilities of screening of breast cancer in rural areas, training of women councillors and property rights to women.

In the meeting, Hameeda directed the personnel concerned to ensure effective implementation on women empowerment packages according to the vision of the Punjab government so that maximum women folk can be benefited.
