RECORDER REPORT

LAHORE: Maryam Nawaz has replaced her display picture (DP) with Nehal Hashmi’s on his twitter account to express solidarity with the convicted senator of her party. The purpose of replacing her DP with Nehal Hashmi is condemnation of the sentence announced by the apex court, said party sources.

She also addressed PML-N’s social media team from Gujranwala on Friday and claimed that prisons would fall short of space while rhetorically asking the top court how many people would be tried for contempt of court for supporting Nawaz Sharif despite his disqualification as a premier. She alleged that ‘the court operating on vengeance’ has not been able to find witnesses against Nawaz Sharif in corruption references.

She rhetorically questioned disqualification of Nawaz Sharif by saying that entire cities welcomed him following his ouster.

She claimed that the public rallies of Nawaz Sharif fell short of space. Nawaz Sharif had led a rally to Islamabad to restore judges and his pro-judiciary movement became a success as soon as he reached Gujranwala, she added. She said the strategists were hoping that the Sharif family would fall apart but Nawaz Sharif has won even after his disqualification, she said.

She complained that top court has followed a path of holding people accountable for alleged contempt of court. How many of the people would be served contempt of court notices, she asked.

Maryam said Senator Nehal Hashmi’s anti-judiciary speech had disturbed her as Panama Papers case was sub judice but asked that would the top court hold former dictator Pervez Musharraf accountable for manhandling ex-chief justice of Pakistan (CJP).

Disqualified premier Nawaz Sharif met all the promises made to the people of Pakistan after assuming federal government in 2013. The government of PML-N eradicated power outages by overcoming energy crisis and countered terrorism. The apex court declared a man godfather after he secured crores of votes and people’s mandate, Maryam complained.
