HYDERABAD: The hall of SU Syed Panah Ali Shah Model School, Jamshoro was packed to its capacity as one witnessed excited, exuberant and beaming faces of students of class one to ten awaiting award of free textbooks to them.

University of Sindh, Jamshoro in loop with its collaborating academic partner Sindh Textbook Board Jamshoro organized a serene ceremony at the Varsity’s Syed Panah Ali Shah Model School in its residential colony to distribute free books among poor deserving students, where children from humble social strata and low income households study.

The ceremony commenced with recitation from the Holy Quran. Thereafter, school principal Dr Farida Shaikh extended warm welcome to all guests of honour and the audience. She also shed light on the importance of books, observing that books taught them all the positive values needed to lead a productive, meaningful, self-profitable and socially-beneficial life, stressing that books then be valued, taken care of, preserved and loved.

The rest of the event speakers - renowned faculty of SU Institute of English Language and Literature Dr Ghulam Ali Buriro, SU Director Sports (Boys) Ajved Ahmed Bhatti, STBB Deputy Secretary Abdul Fahim Noonari and others in their views paid rich tribute to the selfless efforts put in by two institutional academic heads in immediate neighbourhood i.e. SU Vice chancellor Prof Dr Fateh Muhammad Burfat and STBB Chairman Aga Sohail Ahmed towards uplift of education, educational institutions and students.

Towards the end, around five thousand books in eight hundred sets, covering all subjects were given away to 800 students.

Parents and guardians accompanying students who were available at the event sidelines thanked SU and STBB in a big way and expressed their mirth on the given welcome development.
