RECORDER REPORT

KARACHI: Bahadurabad group of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan turned down precondition of the PIB group’s head for expelling Amir Khan, its senior deputy convener, to reunify the two estranged factions.

“Amir Khan is integral part of the party. He has been elected senior deputy convener when Dr Farooq Sattar was heading the party before its split into two factions,” a spokesman for Bahadurabad faction said, in reaction to Farooq Sattar’s conditional readiness to join hands with Bahadurabad group and accept their entire Coordination Committee. He created ‘choose me or lose me’ condition with the rival faction.

“Dr Farooq Sattar knew it well under whose decision Amir Khan came back to the party’s fold,” said the spokesman of Bahadurabad group, adding that all bodies of the party were working along with Amir Khan to take the party forward. He said Khan has been discharging his duties with honesty and dedication. “It transcends our comprehension why he is objecting to Amir Khan after passage of many years since he came back to the party,” the spokesman exclaimed. He also asked why Dr Sattar remained silent for three years on Khan’s alleged role behind Rangers raid on Nine Zero which he claimed now. The spokesman further said although their Coordination Committee elected Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui as convener of the party, unanimously, yet party had been asking Sattar to come to Bahadurabad office and take charge of the party affairs as convener; but, he always rejected their offers by coming up with unrealistic conditions. “The party workers are keenly observing the situation. They will not allow anybody to inflict any damage to the collective cause of the party,” Bahadurabad faction’s spokesman alerted.
