KARACHI: Rain with wind-thunderstorm is expected in upper parts of the country in coming 24 hours and isolated falls in lower Sindh, the Met Office said on Saturday.

It said that scattered isolated heavy falls may hit Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Multan, D.G Khan, Bahawalpur, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat, Zhob and Kalat Divisions, besides Islamabad and Kashmir on Sunday.

However, Malakand, Bannu, Mirpurkhas, Karachi, Sukkur and Shaheed Benazirabad Divisions and Gilgit-Baltistan are likely to receive isolated falls. Hot and humid weather is expected in other parts of the country in the next 24 hours.

“Seasonal low lies over Balochistan and its adjoining areas. Monsoon currents are penetrating upper and central parts of the country,” the Met said.

In the next 24 hours: Scattered rain with wind-thunderstorm fell in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Malakand, Hazara, Kohat, Karachi and Hyderabad Divisions, Islamabad, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Weather remained hot and humid elsewhere in the country.

Maximum rainfall was recorded in Attock as 88mm followed by Okara 48mm, Islamabad Saidpur 47mm, Rahim Yar Khan 30mm, Cherat 18mm, Parachinar 12mm, Chakwal 11mm, Bahawalpur 8mm, Kakul and Balakot 7mm, each, Upper Dir and Chhor 6mm, each. Bhakkar was the hottest place in the country with 43 degrees Celsius, D I Khan, Sibbi, Turbat and Dalbandin 41, each. Rain/wind-thunderstorm with isolated heavy falls is expected at scattered places in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Multan, D.G Khan, Bahawalpur, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat, Zhob, Kalat divisions, Islamabad and Kashmir.
