SUL students given insight into practical aspects

LAHORE: The Lahore Stock Exchange (LSE) on Tuesday gave an insight about practical aspects of the financial institutions by industry professionals to the students of Superior University Lahore (SUL).

The students’ visit to the Exchange was part of the nationwide campus outreach programme launched by the Lahore Stock Exchange in collaboration with South Asian Federation of Exchange (SAFE). The LSE Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Aftab Ahmed Chaudhry was the chief guest.

The panel of professionals included Zafar Iqbal Amin Manager Lahore Branch Central Depository Company of Pakistan (CDC), Commercial Banks Stock Exchange Branches, along with LSE officials.

Zafar Iqbal Amin briefed the students about the need for setting up CDC and various facilities being offered by CDC not only to add efficiency but also for increased transparency and investors’ confidence. He explained as to how investors can use various CDC services for protecting their portfolios. Barkat Ali Anjum Head of Media and Public Relation Department of LSE spoke on capital market and listed mutual funds industry and products being offered by them. He informed the students that mutual funds could be an effective approach for people to start investments offering risk diversification and good returns through professional fund management.

Meanwhile, the students visited various banks and brokerage houses where they were given overviews on the functioning of these institutions such as trading, banking products and services, lending and borrowing services and local as well as international remittances.
