LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that every Pakistani is grieved over the tragic incident of Rawalpindi, “the persons who involved in that tragedy deserve deterrent punishment”, he added.

He directed that all resources should be utilized for arresting the culprits and bringing them to condign justice.

He appreciated the role of Ulema for normalising the situation and directed to start reconstruct work immediately of mosque, Madrisa Taleem-ul-Quran and Madina Market affected due to Rawalpindi tragedy.

He asked Assembly Members and party ticket holders to keep close liaison with Ulema and traders and play their active role for ensuring atmosphere of brotherhood and maintaining law and order. He expressed these views while presiding over separate meetings held on Wednesday with regard to reviewing the proposals of committees constituted for assessing the losses of markets and mosque and law and order at Islamabad.

Provincial Ministers Rana Sanaullah, Raja Ashfaq Sarwar, Col. Shuja Khanzada (retd), Atta Muhammad Manika, Assembly Members, party ticket holders of district Rawalpindi, Chief Secretary Punjab, Secretaries of Home, Communication & Works, Auqaf and Information Departments. Inspector General Police Punjab, Commissioner, RPO, DCO Rawalpindi and senior officials of law enforcement agencies attended the meetings.

Chief Minister said that the future of Pakistan is linked with unity and the role of all segments of the society and cooperation of Ulema is vital for ensuring the atmosphere of brotherhood throughout the province particularly in Rawalpindi.

He said that Pindi incident is a tragic one and he is deeply shocked over it. The Chief Minister said that law and order would be ensured at all costs and strict action would be taken against those officers who showed negligence in the incident on Youm-e-Aashur.

He directed the regional and district administration to ensure availability and supply of daily use items in abundance to the Pindi people. He said that possible relief should be provided to the citizens by ensuring availability of flour, sugar, pulses and other essential items at Utility Stores, Mobile shops and Sahulat Bazars set up at Rawalpindi.

Addressing the meeting of Members National and Provincial Assembly, party ticket holders and officer-bearers of Rawalpindi, Shahbaz Sharif said that the committees set up for carrying out survey of losses to the mosque, Madrisa Taleem-ul-Quran and traders of Madina Market should complete their work at the earliest with their proposals. He said that the traders would be compensated to a possible extent.

He stressed upon Members Assembly and Party Ticket Holders to hold meetings with Ulema and traders for the promotion of religious tolerance and maintenance of law and order and get their cooperation in the larger interest of the country.

MNA Malik Ibrar Ahmad, former Assembly Members Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, Shakil Awan, Dr Jamal Nasir and other Assembly Members apprised the Chief Minister of their proposals with regard to compensation of losses caused to mosque, Madrisa Taleem-ul-Quran and Madina Market.

Commissioner Rawalpindi Khalid Masood Chaudhry briefed the meeting about the availability of edible items, mobile shops and Sahulat Bazars in abundant to people.
