LAHORE: Pak-Iran Gas Pipeline Project is must to overcome crisis in the energy sector, so the government should complete this project on priority basis as early as possible.

The Pakistan Industrial and Traders Association Front (PIAF)’s Acting Chairman Khamis Saeed Butt stated this in a statement on Wednesday. He also said that government is not taking it as an important issue, this project is in national interest as it would help overcome the energy shortage. Gas and electricity has halted the economic activities in the country.

He said nation has reposed trust in Nawaz Sharif by giving him heavy mandate in the general elections therefore, he should give preference to the national interests at every cost and take all decisions while keeping in view the ground realities.

He said that due to gas shortage, the industrial process has come to halt while because of low productions the industrial growth is also fast shrinking and losing orders from foreign countries. He said that low job creation phenomenon has taken hostage the entire society, creating social issues.

Khamis Saeed Butt said that despite being a frontline ally of the United States in its war against terrorism and suffering a huge monetary and colossal losses, drone attacks have become order of the day.

He said that in the present scenario, when government was posing to suspend gas to the industry for three months, Pak-Iran Gas Pipeline Project is a ray of hope, so, in view of the rising demand of energy, new energy projects should also be focused by the government.
