ISLAMABAD: Prices of most of the essential kitchen items remained on high side during last week, as compared to the preceding week, a survey conducted by Business Recorder revealed.

The survey noted that tomato was being sold at Rs 70 per kg against Rs 60-65 per kg in the past week, chicken at Rs 195 per kg, vegetable gee (loose) at 170 per kg, while vegetable gee (2.5kg tin) was being available at Rs 510, cooking oil (2.5 litre tin) was being sold at Rs 530, wheat flour 10kg bag was being sold at Rs 405, eggs were at Rs 100-105 per dozen, fresh milk was being available at Rs 90 per litre last week as compared to the preceding week.

Mixed trend was witnessed in prices of different vegetables. Pprices of some vegetables remained stable, while other registered slight increase last week as compared to the preceding week, as potato was being available at Rs 35-40 per kg in wholesale market while at Rs 50 in retail market, lemon at Rs 50-60 per kg in wholesale market and Rs 80 in retail market, ginger at Rs 280-300 per kg in wholesale market and Rs 350 in retail market, garlic at Rs 120 per kg in wholesale market and Rs 140-200 in retail, capsicum at Rs 50-60 per kg in wholesale market and Rs 75-80 in retail market, cabbage was being sold at Rs 40 per kg in whole sale market and Rs 50-55 in retail market.

The survey noted that mutton was being sold at R 600-620 per kg, while beef was being sold at Rs 280-300 per kg last week as compared to the preceding week.

However, prices of most of the pulses were stable in the market last week as Masoor washed was being available at Rs 130-140 per kg, Moong washed at Rs 145-160 per kg and Mash washed at Rs 140-160 per kg, while rice basmati broken was being sold at Rs 90 per kg last week as compared to the preceding week.
