PESHAWAR: Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (PESCO) has decided to start Photo Meter Reading in 100 sub-divisions from the end of the current month (August) while the Board of Directors (BoD) directed the completion of the process within a period two months in the whole province.

99th meeting of Pesco Board of Directors was held at Wapda House Peshawar with Chairman, Malik Muhammad Asad Khan in the chair. Secretary presented Minutes of 98th BoD meeting which were approved after detailed discussion.

During the meeting the Board of Directors accorded approval for increase in the compensation to Lineman who dies during work on line, from Rs.1 million to Rs.2.5 million. To facilitate customers and improve electricity supply system, Pesco BoD accorded approval to purchase 13186 HT structures and purchase 22894 LT structures and purchase of 1232 distribution transformers of different categories.

The board also approved Accounts of Pesco for the period ending 31st March 2015 and O&M Budget for 2015-16. It also took serious notice and ordered investigation into low voltage complaints, despite energizing of Tarbela-Gadoon double circuit Transmission Line.

The board instructed to adopt a formal policy SOP for selection of transformers repair workshops in future and also considered a proposal for construction of 132 KV Jalozai Grid Station.

A number of other managerial and administrative matters on the agenda were also approved and certain were referred to the concerned committees.

During the meeting, the Chief Executive, Pesco, Syed Hassan Fazil gave a comprehensive presentation to the board for bringing Pesco out of line losses, increase in recovery of Pesco, removal of direct hooks. The BoD also discussed load shedding schedule in the context of current energy crisis and ordered to give relief to good customers. Hence in the areas where line losses are less and recovery is better zero or minimum load shedding be carried out with contrast to those areas where illegal use of electricity is high.
