FAISALABAD: The scholarship cheques amounting to Rs 1.22 million have been distributed among the 46 talented students of minority community of Faisalabad division. The cheques were distributed by Punjab Minister for Minorities Affairs & Human Rights Khalil Tahir Sindhu during a ceremony held at Commissioner Office conference room.

Divisional Commissioner Momin Agha, Director Colleges Rana Munawar, ACG Mahr Shafqatullah Mushtaq, Minority MPA Shahzad Munshi, Amanual Ghouri and other representatives of minority community were present on the occasion. Punjab Minister for Minorities Affairs & Human Rights Khalil Tahir Sindhu congratulated the recipients of the scholarships and said that CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif allocated Rs 30 million for providing educational scholarships to the talented students of minorities during the current year while the scholarships of same amount had been distributed among the minority students during the last year.

The minister said that educational scholarships were being provided purely on merit basis with complete transparency.

He informed that Punjab government had announced the more scholarships for the minority students and the talented students could apply for the scholarships by January 31. The minister said that the policy of 5 percent quota of minorities in government jobs had been implemented in letter and spirits on the orders of CM Punjab and the minority employees were serving in police, judiciary, civil service and other department on high and attractive posts through this policy.

Divisional Commissioner Momin Agha greeted the students who had been selected for educational scholarships on merit and said that the CM Punjab had encouraged the talented students without any discrimination.
