KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Wednesday said that a group of 13 friends which went missing while travelling from Karachi to Hyderabad included four of its workers and eight sympathizers and expressed grave concerns over their disappearance.

The MQM Rabita Committee in a statement said the missing people were its workers and sympathizers from Gulistan-e-Jauhar sector, who were going to Hyderabad for attending a marriage ceremony.

It said the missing people included party workers named Waleed Kamal, Office Bearer Gulistan-e-Jauhar (Unit B); Shayan Rehman, Office Bearer Gulistan-e-Jauhar (Unit B); Yasir Kazmi, Worker Gulistan-e-Jauhar (Unit B); Sajid Usmani Worker Gulistan-e-Jauhar (Unit B); Hamdard Adil Worker Gulistan-e-Jauhar (Unit B); Raheel Khan, Worker Gulistan-e-Jauhar (Unit B); Asad Raza, Worker Gulistan-e-Jauhar (Unit B); Saad Hashimi, Worker Gulistan-e-Jauhar (Unit B); Adeel Mirza, Worker Gulistan-e-Jauhar (Unit B); Wasim, Worker Gulistan-e-Jauhar (Unit B); Rehan, Worker Gulistan-e-Jauhar (Unit B) and Junaid Ali, Worker Gulistan-e-Jauhar (Unit B).

All of them had set out for Hyderabad in three cars, however no contact could be made with them since 10:30 pm last night.

The Rabita Committee said also there is no clue of the missing people since then due to which their families are severely distressed.

“We appeal to prime minister, federal interior minister, chief and home ministers of Sindh to step in on the matter and ensure save recovery of MQM activists, who are nowhere to be found since last night,” the MQM Rabita (Coordination) Committee told a press conference at party headquarters ‘Nine Zero.’

According to the MQM, the families of the missing workers have not been able to contact their loved ones since 10:00 PM yesterday (Tuesday). They were going to Hyderabad to attend a marriage ceremony, the party spokesman added.

“This uncertainty is tearing their families apart. They need to know where their ‘flesh and blood’ are and also whether they are safe or not,” the committee said.—NNI
